Luke 5:12-16
English Standard Version (ESV)
Jesus Cleanses a Leper
12 While he was in one of the cities, there came a man full of leprosy. And when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and begged him, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” 13 And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” And immediately the leprosy left him. 14 And he charged him to tell no one, but “go and show yourself to the priest, and make an offering for your cleansing, as Moses commanded, for a proof to them.” 15 But now even more the report about him went abroad, and great crowds gathered to hear him and to be healed of their infirmities. 16 But he would withdraw to desolate places and pray.
M favourite part of this is "If you will, you can make me clean", and the response "I will, be clean".
ReplyDeleteIt makes me think about the way I pray. Last week I was talking to a priest about how I had prayed for something and I was amazed that God had answered that prayer so quickly and so well. And then she said to me: "You prayed about it but you didn't beleive that God would answer it?" And I thought about it, and I was like "WHOA! I did! Why do I pray about things and not expect God to answer them?"
So that's what this reminds me of. The man says "If you want to, I know you can heal me". And I think that's the way I should pray: fully beleiving that God is fully capable of going beyond what I'm asking, but making sure that it is His will.
